Before and After
SC Safe Home grant applicants submit photos of their homes when they apply and the areas which they need to retrofit or upgrade. Grant recipients then submit photos of the completed work showing the retrofits and improvements made with their awards.
Below are some examples of how SC Safe Home is helping South Carolinians and their homes stand strong in the face of severe weather and hurricanes.
Before
The Jones' roof was in need of replacement. Because they live in North Charleston, an area prone to damaging high winds from hurricanes and severe thunderstorms, they applied for and received a grant towards their new roof.
During Replacement
After removing the old shingles, the Jones installed a secondary water barrier system to add additional protection for their home.
After
The Jones selected properly-rated shingles to withstand damaging winds and that are warranted for 30 years.
